About David Lindsay
David Lindsay is the principal surveyor at Stoneworks and has more than 35 years' experience in the built heritage and construction sectors. He began his career as an architectural stone carver, developing a detailed understanding of traditional materials, craftsmanship and historic structures, before establishing and managing a successful conservation and restoration business.
Building on this practical background, David later qualified as a surveyor, combining hands-on conservation experience with professional expertise. This unique blend of skills provides clients with informed insight into traditional and modern construction, defects and appropriate repair solutions.
David is a Registered Associate Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) with the professional designation AssocRICS. His practical experience, technical knowledge, and commitment to providing clear, independent advice form the foundation of Stoneworks' surveying services.
Qualified and Certified
Our drone inspections are undertaken by CAA registered operators holding both A2 CofC and GVC qualifications, supported by extensive practical flight experience. This allows us to safely obtain detailed imagery of areas that are difficult to access from ground level.
Our expertise extends beyond drone operation. We are qualified in the Conservation of Masonry through Historic Environment Scotland (HES), hold a CSCS Heritage Skills Gold Card, and are NOCN qualified in Energy Efficiency for Older and Traditional Buildings. These qualifications ensure inspections are informed by a sound understanding of traditional construction, building defects and conservation best practice.
“Excellent service and communication with a detailed report and explanations. Generally very helpful and knowledgable.”
